How do we measure success? Is it by how much money we have? Is it by how many people we know and have around us? Is it by our job title or how many degrees we hold? What is your definition of success?
My definition of success is how much I have helped and made a difference in someone’s life . My reasoning behind this is because money can deplenish and go away, people and friends can come and go, job titles and positions are not promised, and degrees are just paper. However, that feeling you receive when you genuinely help someone and change their lives is something that can never be taken away. This is a feeling of purpose.
We all should strive to be successful but not at the expense of hurting others. When we help each other, we are all succeeding together. Surround yourself with those who have the same ambitions and desires as you. Surround yourself with people who push you to be greater. Most importantly, surround yourself with people who want to make positive changes in their lives and others.
Positive thinking and energy leads to great accomplishments. Change the way you think and watch how your life begin to change. When we allow God to take control of our lives, we sometimes think our situations have changed; failing to realize that he has given us the ability to see and think positively regarding that same situation!
I challenge you today to encourage and inspire someone to do better and take them with you to experience the road to success!
Everyone have a different meaning when asked what does family mean to you? Family doesn’t have to be biological to understand the dynamics of relationships. Some of my closest friends are considered my sisters because of our personal relationships. Family are those that we can argue with about anything, stop talking to them for 2 days, and in a time of need; we can pick up the phone to call them and they will come to our rescue!
We only have one life to live so within this lifetime, make sure you love hard. Tell your family how much you love and appreciate them. It’s never too late to apologize to someone you have hurt or caused pain. If someone has apologized to you, it’s up to you to accept and forgive, but know that if we don’t accept and forgive those of whom have hurt us, then God will not forgive us! We can only move forward by apologizing and forgiving. Life is too short to live with regrets. Don’t let pride get in the way of your soul being lost! Who do you need to apologize to? Who do you need to forgive?
As we say good bye to the 44th President and his family, it is a sad day for many of us. As we reminisce on how he took office 8 years ago with the slogan “Yes we can” and a positive attitude that gave us hope and excitement for a better tomorrow. He shared his personal emotions with us all, he shared his beliefs with us all and most of all he shared his family with us all.
We are on our way to inaugurating a new 45th President and it still remains uncertain as to the beliefs, political views, and moral values of this person. We live in a world where we put too much emphasis in “Man”. One thing remains certain and will never change is the sovereignty of God the almighty. We may not have control over where this country is going, but we do have control over where we will be going. We have a choice as to whom we will serve and I choose to serve the highest Commander and Chief, the King of all Kings, the one of whom we all will have to answer to.
I say this to you, on January 20, 2017; don’t be sadden by this day as this will be the day that the nation will come to know who is really sitting on the Throne, for he sits high and looks down low!!
For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly, but the haughty he knows from afar.
As we come to the end of the first week, I must admit it is a very good start into the New year. I have managed to encourage others, look for the positives in situations even when it seemed impossible, be a supportive wife, a caring mother, and a diligent manager. These are just a few of my everyday tasks that are completed without having to be reminded to do it.
I sit back and wonder if we as women really know our strengths and capabilities? Women have been making history for years and showing off our true talents. As I review the movie “Hidden Figures” it speaks volumes of the three women who were mathematicians at NASA whose calculations allowed for some of the greatest accomplishments in space. These women overcame obstacles everyday, but chose to never give up and in return made significant contributions to the space program.
As a black woman who worked on the International Space Shuttle Program, seeing this movie made me feel proud and inspired to follow my dreams and conquer the endless possibilities that lies ahead!
Those of you who are struggling to find your place in this world, I challenge you to find your hidden talent and stop sleeping; as the old Chinese proverb says, “When sleeping women wake, mountains will move”!!
In today’s society we tend to forget about the blessings that surrounds us. With all of the hustle and bustle going on around us, we never take the time to stop and look at the sunrise or sunset, smell the fresh air, or even take a walk in the park to view God’s creation. If you think about it, we always have something that captures our attention and make us feel as if we don’t have time to appreciate the little things in life.
Today, let’s all take a minute out of our busy schedules and thank God for being here. Thank God for allowing us to see another year and giving us another chance to make it better. Let’s all thank him for the blessings we have already received and for those that are coming our way.
As women, we have so many things that can clutter our minds with the many roles we possess such as Mother, Wife, Entrepreneur, Manager, CEO, Sister, Daughter, and Girlfriend just to name a few. But have we thought about such a title called SERVANT. Ask yourself, how can I be a servant and how can I bless someone else’s life today? I challenge each of you to be a blessing to someone today without having any expectations in return!
We all look forward to each new year hoping that it will be better than the last. I often wonder if I will honestly do anything different than the past years. I can tell you that it’s easier said than done.
I’ve comprised a list of things that I have sought over the years that actually works for me when I adhere to them.
1. Trust God- I have learned to trust God and lean on him for everything. When I am unsure of a decision I need to make or wondering what’s going to happen with my job, I trust God to take care of it all.
2. Have Faith- If I said that I will trust God in my decision making, then I have to believe that it will be in my best interest. I have to believe that everything that I asked for will come to pass.
3. Laugh More– Laughter is good for the soul. Find humor in your mistakes. I try not to be so serious and uptight all the time. It costs nothing to smile. I love a sense of humor.
4. Set One Goal– I know we all go into the new year with a list of goals to accomplish and by June we realize nothing has been done. Find one goal and set your mind to achieving it. It can be something as simple as losing 10 pounds in 3 months. Whatever it is, choose one and focus on completing it this year. This way you won’t feel disappointed by not completing the entire list, but instead you accomplished the one you set out to do.
5. Eat Healthy- I know this is a hard one, but if we want to see 2018, it is worth it. Choosing to eat healthy is good for your mind as well as your body. I not only feed my body healthier foods, but I feed my mind by reading positive information to increase my knowledge in different topics.
I am certain there are more tips that I can give, but these are my top 5 that I use to get me through each day in order to make it through another year! What are your top 5?
